On May 14, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was presented with an overview of renovation and investment projects in the city of Tashkent.<\/p>\n

According to a resolution by the Cabinet of Ministers dated December 24, 2024, a master plan for Uzbekistan\u2019s capital has been approved through to the year 2045. In accordance with this document, the city has been divided into three zones: conservation, reconstruction, and renovation.<\/p>\n

The renovation zone includes old low-rise houses and buildings that do not meet modern urban planning and seismic safety standards. A phased replacement of such structures with modern residential and infrastructure complexes is planned.<\/p>\n

During the presentation, upcoming steps in this direction were outlined. It was noted that the master plan provides for more than 300 sites designated for renovation. In the first stage, scheduled for 2025\u20132026, 65 projects are to be implemented. This will improve the functionality of the respective areas, create favorable living conditions, and enhance the surrounding environment. As a result, the gap between outdated and modern neighborhoods will gradually narrow, ensuring harmonious coexistence. Development will take place while preserving existing trees and creating new green spaces.<\/p>\n

The head of state emphasized the importance of thoroughly studying the architectural and infrastructural compatibility of these projects, as well as ensuring their safety based on geological and seismic surveys. He stressed that residential housing must be integrated with social infrastructure such as schools, kindergartens, and recreational areas.<\/p>\n

As the President noted, green spaces are the \u201clungs\u201d of the city, while ariqs (irrigation ditches) and canals are its \u201ccirculatory system.\u201d Accordingly, the new master plan gives special attention to greening and water drainage. In particular, the area of green zones in Tashkent and its suburbs is set to triple \u2014 reaching 25,000 hectares. This, in turn, requires improvement of the irrigation networks.<\/p>\n

The presentation also covered the irrigation and drainage system aligned with the new master plan. By 2030, it is planned to reconstruct 100 kilometers of canals and develop pedestrian zones along them.<\/p>\n

In cooperation with the Turkish company Su-Yapi Engineering and Consulting<\/i>, studies of problems in the drainage system have been carried out. Using aerial photography, geodetic data, and precipitation analysis, a master plan for its modernization was developed. Last year, 45 potential flood zones were eliminated, and this year, 34 more sites will be addressed.<\/p>\n

The President stressed the need to continue this work, expand its scope, and train specialists in this area.<\/p>\n

Information was also presented on the progress of investment projects in the city. A total of 717 investment projects worth $25 billion have been formulated in Tashkent. In the current year, $7.5 billion is expected to be utilized, launching 265 projects.
